Demographics of Namangan: Who Lives Here in 2026?
so here i am, standing in namangan, a city in eastern uzbekistan that’s not exactly on every tourist’s radar, but man, it’s got a story. i’m a freelance photographer, and i’m here to capture the real faces, the real stories, not the glossy brochure version. the city is home to around 750,000 people, mostly uzbeks, but you’ll also find a mix of tajiks, russians, and a small korean community that’s been here since stalin’s time. the median age is about 28, which means there’s a lot of young energy, but also a lot of people hustling to make ends meet. rent for a one-bedroom apartment in the city center is around $150 a month, which sounds cheap until you realize the average salary is about $300. safety-wise, it’s pretty chill, but like anywhere, you keep your wits about you at night. the weather right now? hot as hell, like 35°c (95°f) and dry, but the mountains are just a short drive away if you need to cool off. andorran vibes? nah, but the fergana valley nearby is lush and green, a total contrast to the dusty streets here.
