Las Vegas: Where the AC Won’t Save You and the Coffee is a Gamble

i’m here, sitting on the edge of a bench in this... place. not sure if it’s a city or a dream I fell into. the air smells like burnt popcorn and something vaguely metallic. i just checked and it’s 11.92, which is like, chilly but not freezing. hope you like that kind of thing. the forecast says it’ll swing up to 13.58 later, but i’m not sure if that’s a typo or a warning.

there’s a map here if you wanna see where i’m stuck.

. it looks like a grid of concrete and lights. i don’t know if that’s accurate. maybe it’s just the way my phone sees it.

low angle photo of city high rise buildings during daytime

. this one is from a drone shot. the buildings here are tall, but not in a fancy way. more like they’re trying to reach the sky and failing.

another photo shows people doing office work.

people doing office works
people sitting near table with laptop computer

. these people look like they’re in a prolonged debate about whether time exists. i don’t know.

here’s the thing about the neighbors: if you get bored, the next city over is a 45-minute drive. don’t waste your time. they’re all the same. or maybe they’re not. i heard that someone once told me that the street artists here are better than anywhere else. i don’t know if that’s true. i didn’t see any. maybe i missed them.

the weather is a mess. i just checked and it’s... there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. the humidity is 38%, which is like, not bad, but the feels like is 10.16. that’s colder than it sounds. maybe because of the wind? or maybe because i’m just pretending it’s not.

someone told me that the food here is overrated. i heard that from a guy selling smoothies in a parking lot. he looked deeply miserable. i didn’t ask for details. i just ordered a coffee. it was lukewarm. i don’t know if that’s the norm or if i got a bad batch.

check out the tripadvisor for the best local café. it’s called something like ‘The Final Brew’? i don’t remember. yelp has a list of places that claim to be ‘authentic,’ but i’d bet most of them are just people trying to sound cool. local boards? i don’t know. maybe ask a tourist. they seem to know everything.

i’m not sure why i’m writing this. maybe because i’m tired. maybe because the AC is broken. maybe because i’m a budget student and this is my adventure. either way, it’s messy. like everything here. the lights, the people, the fact that i can’t find a place to sit without someone asking if i want to buy a ‘mystery drink.’

i just checked and it’s... there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. the neighbors are loud. or maybe they’re just practicing their voices. i don’t know. i heard that the locals here are good at storytelling. maybe that’s why i’m here. or maybe i’m just lost.

links: https://www.tripadvisor.com/LasVegas.html https://www.yelp.com/ LasVegas https://www.reddit.com/r/LasVegas/. read them. they’ll tell you what to do. or maybe they’ll tell you not to. i don’t care.

this place is like a bad sunset. it’s beautiful in a way that makes you question your life choices. the temperature is 11.92, the pressure is 1011, and the humidity is 38%. all numbers. all random. just like this post.

if you get bored, [cities] are just a short drive away. but don’t. stay here. it’s better. probably.
