Lost in the Labyrinth of Tbilisi (1185128 & 1050547831)

okay, so i’m still processing *Tbilisi. honestly, i feel like i’ve wandered through a dream someone accidentally left the door to open. the numbers 1185128 and 1050547831 just kinda… appeared. no context. felt like a cryptic message from the universe, maybe a phone number i’m supposed to call? who knows.

The air here is thick, heavy with the scent of something baking and exhaust fumes - a surprisingly pleasant combo, actually. i just checked and it's… almost cloying, that humid warmth, clinging to you like a second skin. feels like a giant, friendly hug, but you might sweat a little. the locals call it a 'balm'. i'm not sure about that, but it's definitely something.

Old Town is a beautiful, chaotic mess. cobblestone streets twist and turn, leading you to hidden courtyards overflowing with bougainvillea. every building seems to have a story etched into its weathered facade. i spent a good hour just getting hopelessly lost, which, let’s be real, is half the fun. i did stumble upon a tiny cafe serving khachapuri, and it was an absolute revelation. cheesy, gooey, utterly addictive. definitely worth seeking out - someone told me that the one near the Freedom Square is the best, but honestly, every little place seems to have its own charm.

Weather report: Temp 17.1°C, feels like 16.07°C. Pretty mild, right? Pressure's holding steady at 1016, humidity's a respectable 46%. It's a nice, breathable kind of day. Grnd Level feels a little damp, almost earthy.

Neighbors: If you get bored, Georgia is just a short drive away. apparently, the mountains offer some seriously epic hiking.

Gear List (Because I'm a slightly neurotic traveler):
Comfortable walking shoes (seriously, you'll need them).
A reusable water bottle (stay hydrated!).
A good map (or offline access to one).
A journal (to document your adventures, and your inevitable moments of confusion).
A camera (duh!).
Layers of clothing - the weather can shift quickly.

Overheard Gossip:

"Don't trust the taxi drivers near the market. They'll inflate the price. Ask a local for a recommendation."

"The best wine is from Kakheti. Go visit!"

"Be prepared for lots of stairs. Like, a lot."

Seriously, Tbilisi is a sensory overload in the best possible way. it's gritty and gorgeous, ancient and alive. it feels like stepping back in time, but with good coffee and surprisingly decent Wi-Fi at some of the cafes. i’m thinking of checking out the
Narikala Fortress* tomorrow. apparently, the views are incredible. and there's a really cool art district i heard about. i might even try my hand at some impromptu street photography - wish me luck!

If you're looking for a city that will challenge your senses and steal a little piece of your heart, Tbilisi is it. just… embrace the chaos. and maybe call that number. i’m still not sure what it means.

check out TripAdvisor's Tbilisi page for more info, and if you’re into food, Yelp has some great reviews. you can also find some local insights on Lonely Planet's forum.

Anyway, gotta go find more khachapuri.

Oh, and one last thing - someone warned me about pickpockets in the crowded areas. just a heads-up.
