Munich in My Messy Backpack: Uni, Coffee, and Graffiti

so i rolled into munich last week and the first thing that hit me was the cold drizzle that feels like the city is trying to wash away my hangover but also like a fresh canvas for street art the streets are full of tags and the vibe is kinda raw like a pop‑up gallery that never closes i checked out a few spots like the beyern gate where the crowds are more tourists than locals but the energy is still buzzing the rent here is wild honestly i’m paying more for a tiny room than i did for a whole apartment in my hometown but the safety is solid i can walk home at 2am without looking over my shoulder the job market for creatives is a mixed bag but you can hustle coffee shop gigs or street mural commissions if you know where to look and the university of munich is top notch but the lectures are more like deep dives into german philosophy than party drills

> the dorm next door is basically a sauna in winter, but the landlord is cool af
> heard the beer garden on the edge of town is where the locals dump their problems

the weather today is a mix of fog and sudden sun spikes, kind of like the city is playing hide‑and‑seek with you and the alps are just a short drive away while berlin is a short flight away so you can swap one vibe for another in a weekend

i snapped a couple of shots for the gram, one from the rooftop looking over the cityscape at night and another aerial view during sunset you can see them below

some drunk advice i got from a local: check out the//albertstraßecider bar for cheap brews and a vibe that feels like a basement show
michigan reddit tripadvisor munich yelp munich munich beer gardens guide
overall it’s a mash‑up of old cobblestones and neon lights and if you’re into murals, cheap lager and a study environment that actually pushes you to think the city might just be your next creative home
