nassau: where the light hits different

aerial photography of white and blue cruise ships during daytime

okay so i’ve been shooting in nassau for three days straight and my camera’s started sweating more than me. the humidity’s *73% right now but feels like the air’s giving you a sticky handshake. i just checked the temp and it’s clinging to 21°C like it’s afraid to let go. hope you like that kind of thing.

found this
straw market yesterday. took 200 shots of baskets before realizing the real art was in the locals’ side-eye when i asked if i could photograph their braiding technique. pro tip: bring a stack of $1 bills. not just for tips-those things are legit currency for photo access and forgiveness. someone told me the market’s been there since dinosaurs wore sunglasses, but don’t quote me on that. check the vibe here.

if you get restless,
paradise island is basically next door-like walking to a neighbor’s pool uninvited but they’re cool with it. i heard that the aquarium there has a shark tunnel that’ll make your underwater shots look lazy. locals whisper it’s worth the tourist tax. also, the fort charlotte ruins? goldmine for moody shots. just watch out for iguanas-they’ll steal your gear if you blink twice.

“yo man, avoid the conch salad joint by the docks unless you wanna explain why your insides look like abstract art.”

“the best sunrise shots? stand at
junkanoo beach with a coffee and pretend you’re not sweating through your shirt.”

the
fish fry district* at night is a neon fever dream. i followed this drunk guy’s advice to try the cracked conch-turns out he meant ‘crack’ as in ‘shell’ not ‘substance’. still worth it. more eats. pressure’s at 1020 hPa today, which i’m told means the sky’s not gonna collapse on my gear. fingers crossed.

shooting here’s like herding cats. the light shifts faster than a tourist’s accent. but when it hits those pastel colonial buildings? chef’s kiss. just gotta dodge cruise ship crowds like they’re paparazzi. plan your shots before you drown in the humidity.
