Poznań Diaries: Cold Nights and Cozy Corners

cold wind hits you the second you step out in poznań. i just checked and it's -1.7°c there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. the humidity's at 94%, so it's not just cold-it's that damp, seeps-into-your-bones cold. still, the city has this way of making you forget the chill once you're wandering through its streets.

i heard from a barista at *weranda cafe that the old town square is best visited at sunrise-something about the golden light hitting the renaissance facades. someone told me that the locals avoid the main square after 10am because it gets swarmed with tourists. weranda cafe itself? cozy as heck, and their chai latte is worth braving the cold for.

if you get bored,
warsaw and wrocław are just a short drive away. but honestly, poznań has enough charm to keep you busy. the imperial castle is a must-see, even if you're just there to snap a pic of its gothic architecture. i overheard a local saying the castle's basement has a secret jazz club-no idea if it's true, but it's the kind of rumor that makes you want to explore.

for dinner,
stary brower came highly recommended by a drunk guy at a bar. he said their pierogi are "life-changing," and i'm inclined to agree. the place is tiny, so book ahead if you can. croissant museum is another gem-yes, it's touristy, but the history of poznań's famous pastry is surprisingly fascinating.

pro tip: layer up. like,
seriously layer up. the wind here doesn't mess around. and if you're into street art, check out the murals near jeżelna street -they're a nice contrast to the city's historic vibe.

poznań's got this mix of old-world charm and modern energy that's hard to resist. even with the cold, i found myself wandering for hours, getting lost in its alleys and stumbling onto little cafes that felt like they were just for me. it's the kind of place that sticks with you, even after you've left.
