Ridiculesly Cold but Kinda Magical: My Unexpected Trip to Rimini

so i just got back from this weird little adventure to rimini, italy. y'know, that beach town everyone raves about in summer? yeah, well, i went in the dead of winter. turns out, it's a whole different vibe when the tourists are gone and the wind is trying to peel your face off.

i just checked and it's 5.24°c and feels like 4.17°c there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. honestly, i was freezing my butt off, but somehow it made everything feel more... real? like the locals weren't putting on a show for tourists, they were just living their lives and i was crashing it.

"you came at the worst time," said the barista at this tiny cafe near the beach. "but also the best. no crowds, no noise, just us."

i heard that the beach clubs are usually packed in july, but in january? it's just you, the seagulls, and a few brave souls walking their dogs. i stumbled upon this little seafood spot called *Osteria del Gran Fritto and let me tell you, the fried calamari was chef's kiss. someone told me that the owner's family has been running it for generations, and you can taste the history in every bite.

if you get bored, bologna and florence are just a short drive away. but honestly, rimini itself has so much to offer if you're willing to look past the summer hype. i spent an afternoon wandering through the
Tempio Malatestiano, this insane cathedral with more detail than my ex's breakup texts. and the Arch of Augustus? ancient, massive, and totally worth the hype.

a large building with a blue dome on top of it

one drunk guy at a bar told me that the best gelato in town is at
Gelateria Gianni, and honestly? he wasn't wrong. i went back three times in two days. don't judge me.

anyway, if you're thinking of visiting rimini, don't just stick to the summer months. winter has its own kind of magic, even if it means wearing three layers and still shivering. and if you're into history, food, or just wandering around with no plan, this place is a goldmine.

pro tip:* check out TripAdvisor for hidden gems, but also just talk to locals. they'll tell you stuff the internet doesn't know.

overall, rimini in winter? 10/10 would freeze again.
