Rotterdam Vibes: Rainy Nights and Unexpected Art

i just got back from rotterdam and my brain's still buzzing from all the neon and noise. the weather? well, i just checked and it's *5.1°C with a humidity that makes you feel like you're breathing soup. seriously, if you're into that kind of thing, pack a raincoat and maybe a small towel for your face.

anyway, the city's got this weird mix of old port grit and shiny new architecture that feels like someone threw a spaceship into a warehouse district. i heard from a barista at
lot 6 café that the locals call it "the city that never stops rebuilding." apparently, there's a rumor going around that the cube houses were designed by someone who got lost in a minecraft server.

overheard gossip: someone told me that the markthal's ceiling art is actually a secret map to a hidden bar. i didn't find it, but i did find a killer stroopwafel at de bakkerswinkel.

if you get bored,
amsterdam and the hague are just a short train ride away, but honestly? rotterdam's got enough street art and weird museums to keep you busy for days.

"the nightlife here is like a choose-your-own-adventure book written by a caffeinated squirrel." - some guy at a bar i can't remember the name of

random bolded tip: check out witte de withstraat* for bars that feel like they were decorated by art students on a sugar high.

and yeah, the weather sucked, but that just meant more time in cozy cafes with people who looked like they'd rather be anywhere else. classic rotterdam energy.
