tel aviv: where the numbers game and the weather plays hard to get
i rolled into tel aviv with a head full of static and a note scribbled with 295089 and 1376362310. turns out those were the locker combo at hilton beach. inside? a crusty sim card and a note that said 'tel aviv doesn’t do wifi, it does life'. nice.
just peeked at the weather-it’s clinging to 19.62°C like a cheap perfume sample. feels like 19.41°C, so pack that light jacket but don’t expect a sauna. humidity’s at 68%, which means everything’s slightly damp. including my socks.
if you start twitching in your hotel room, jerusalem’s a 45-minute train ride away. haifa’s even farther. but seriously, why leave?
“someone told me that abu hassan’s hummus shuts down tuesdays and thursdays. i went wednesday. they served me. so either the rumor’s dead or the chef’s lying.”
“i heard neve tzedek’s flea market is tourist trap central. then i found a 1967 levi’s for 10 shekels. take gossip like shakshuka-better with a side of salt.”
as a digital nomad, i’m constantly hunting for spots that won’t kill my soul. found the hub tel aviv-wifi that doesn’t choke, coffee that doesn’t taste regret.
other hot takes:
- buses here run on greek time. show up early or bring a book.
- bulgaria restaurant’s shakshuka will make you question your life choices. in a good way.
- and for real, skip the touristy beach clubs. the locals hang where the sand’s gritty and the music’s loud.

tel aviv’s a messy, beautiful puzzle. and the numbers? still working on ‘em.
