Buenos Aires Bliss (and a Mild Case of Existential Dread)

okay, so buenos aires. wow. just… wow. i’m still processing. i landed here a few days ago, fueled by a questionable amount of coffee and the vague promise of 'authentic experiences.' let’s just say, it’s delivered. the air here is thick - not in a bad way, more like it’s full of stories and the scent of grilling meat. i just checked and it's… humid, there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. like being wrapped in a warm, slightly damp hug.

i’m staying in palermo, which feels like a constant buzz of activity. it’s got those cool tree-lined avenues, tons of cafes, and street art everywhere. seriously, every corner is a mini-gallery. i stumbled upon this amazing little place - a bakery called 'full of grace' - and the empanadas? forget about it. i’m pretty sure i gained five pounds in the first day alone. i found their Yelp page here: https://www.yelp.com/biz/full-of-grace-bakery-buenos-aires

my days have been a blur of wandering, getting gloriously lost, and attempting to decipher spanish menus. my spanish is… well, let’s just say it’s mostly enthusiastic gesturing and hopeful smiles. but people are incredibly patient. i’m trying to embrace the chaos, you know? surrender to the unexpected.

i wandered through la bohemia, which is basically a living, breathing art installation. the walls are covered in graffiti, murals, and tags - a constant flow of color and expression. someone told me that the best way to experience la bohemia is to just get lost and let the neighborhood guide you. and honestly? they’re right.

*overheard gossip:* i overheard a couple of older guys at a cafe talking about a secret speakeasy hidden somewhere in recoleta. apparently, you have to know the password, which changes every week. i'm determined to find it.

the weather’s been… interesting. it’s fluctuating. one minute it’s sunny and warm, the next it’s overcast and breezy. i heard a local warning me about the sudden afternoon showers - apparently, they can come out of nowhere. good advice, i’m taking it seriously.

i’ve been trying to soak up as much culture as possible. i went to a tango show - which was intense - and spent an afternoon wandering through the museo nacional de bellas artes. the building itself is stunning. but honestly? the best part has been just sitting in a park, watching life unfold. it's the little moments, right? sipping mate, listening to music, observing the people.

i'm planning a day trip to el calafate to see the Perito Moreno Glacier - it’s a bit of a trek, but i hear it’s breathtaking. i’m definitely looking into bus tickets on https://www.busbud.com/. and if you get bored, argentina's surrounding regions are just a short drive away.

i'm thinking about checking out some street art tours - there’s a bunch of options on TripAdvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g319756-Activities-Buenos_Aires_Province.html. also, i'm curious about checking out some local markets. apparently, they’re a great place to find hidden gems and cheap eats. i heard that the market in San Telmo is a must-see.

anyways, i’m off to explore. wish me luck finding that speakeasy…or just not getting hopelessly lost. and don't forget to try the dulce de leche. seriously, the dulce de leche.

i'm also considering a course at Buenos Aires Cooking Class, as i want to improve on my culinary skills https://www.airbnb.co.uk/experiences/242929.
