Buenos Aires Brain Dump: 1171376 & 1586718612

okay, so i landed inBuenos Aireslike, yesterday. felt like a solid time zone jump, you know? jet lag is a real mood. i’m staring at this weird number - 1171376 - it keeps popping into my head. no idea what it is. maybe a bus route? a phone number? it’s just…there. and then there's 1586718612. feels equally random. i just checked and it’s…warm. surprisingly so. there right now, hope you like that kind of thing.

The air smells like exhaust and something sweet, maybe roasting meat? it’s a chaotic mix. theneighborshere are…energetic. loud conversations spilling out of doorways, music blasting. it’s not unfriendly, just…present. if you get bored,Recoletais just a short drive away.

i’m staying in a littlepalermoapartment. super basic, but it has a balcony and that’s all i really need. i spent the morning wandering aroundPlaza de Mayo. the architecture is stunning - all grand buildings and history oozing out of every corner. i heard that theCasa Rosadahas some pretty intense stories. someone told me that if you go during lunchtime, you can often hear impromptu tango music drifting from a nearby cafe.

Honestly, the food is already incredible. i had empanadas for lunch - savory, flaky perfection. and the coffee? oh god, the coffee. i’m officially acoffee snobnow, apparently. i’ve been hitting up a few little cafes - they’re tucked away down side streets, the kind you’d miss if you weren’t looking. you can find some decent reviews on Yelp if you’re feeling adventurous.

“Don’t even think about trying to haggle at theSan Telmomarket. they’ll laugh in your face.”

my to-do list is a gloriously messy thing right now:

Find a decent tango show (avoid the tourist traps, apparently).
ExploreLa Boca(someone warned me it can be a bit…intense, so be careful).
Get completely lost in theSan Telmoantique shops.
Try to decipher the meaning of 1171376 and 1586718612. seriously, anyone know?

i tried to catch a street artist sketching nearCorrientes Avenue- their work was wild, lots of political stuff. the energy in that area is palpable.

“The best mate, you gotta go to that little hole-in-the-wall for medialunas. Seriously, best you’ll ever have.”

Buenos Airesis just…a lot. a beautiful, chaotic, slightly overwhelming lot. i’m embracing the mess, though. that’s the point, right? sometimes the best adventures are the ones you don't plan.

A dirt road in the middle of a green field

i might try to find a local board for recommendations - you never know what hidden gems are out there. i'm thinking of checking out some volunteer opportunities too, maybe through a site like VolunteerMatch. or just wandering until something interesting happens. that’s the plan, anyway.

i've heard that thePuerto Maderowaterfront is beautiful at sunset. i'll have to check that out. maybe even try some of the upscale restaurants. though, honestly, i'm perfectly happy with empanadas for now.

Buenos Aires- you’re a trip.
