busan is a dump but kinda cool if you like chaos and hot springs

so first off busan is like this big mess of mountains and rivers and sea. i mean it's not pretty or anything but it's got this weird mix that's somehow cool. i just checked and it's... there right now hope you like that kind of thing. like it's 7.91 degrees and feels like the same. i don't know if that's good but i'm not complaining. maybe. you know how sometimes you just want to sit in the cold and not feel anything? well here it’s that. i don’t even know if that’s a good or bad thing. maybe it’s just how it is. okay maybe not. but it’s here. i don’t know if i’m excited or exhausted. probably both.

busan is literally the biggest port city in south korea. which means if you want to see a bus literally stuck in traffic for an hour you should come here. i saw one once and it was like watching a turtle stuck in a drainage pipe. kinda magical but also really sad. also the weather is always gloomy. but at least it’s not hot. i don’t know if that’s a good thing. i mean i’ve been in hotter places and this is just... cool? or maybe it’s just me.

the map is here. i didn’t even think about it but i guess i’m supposed to show you.

. look at it. it’s not a real map. it’s just a bunch of lines and a dot. but the dot is busan. which is great. i guess.

i saw this beach picture on unsplash and it looked like a bunch of tall buildings in the background. must be from the beach area.

a beach with a bunch of tall buildings in the background
houses near body of water during daytime
city with high rise buildings during night time

. those are the only pictures i found. they’re probably fake. but whatever.

if you get bored uhlsan is just a short drive away. or maybe gimhae. i don’t know but they’re there. i also heard that dalin is super quiet but i don’t care. i just want to scream into a pillow. that’s my thing.

someone told me that the local food is amazing but i don’t know what they’re talking about. i just ate a burger and it was okay. maybe. maybe not. i don’t remember. i was too busy looking at the sky. which is always grey. like the weather. which is also always grey. it’s a cycle.

the climate here is temperate. which is just a fancy way of saying it’s not hot and not cold. but it’s also not ideal. i mean 1441.9 mm of rain a year is a lot. i don’t know if that’s a good thing. maybe it’s just how it is. i don’t care. i like rain. i think. i might not. i’m confused.

the mountains here are like... everywhere. i tried hiking once and got lost. not because i’m stupid but because the paths are all just dirt and no signs. it’s like a maze. and then you just stumble into a random hot spring. which is great. but also kinda scary. you never know if the water is still. or if there’s a shark. probably not. but still.

busan is also this huge city with millions of people. like 3.4 million. which is a lot. i saw a bunch of bikes and cars and people. it’s chaotic. which is good. or bad. i don’t know. it’s busy. which is fine. i guess.

i also heard that the people here are really friendly. but i don’t know. i only interacted with one person and they were too busy selling street food. which was great. the street food was amazing. i don’t know what it was. maybe spam. maybe not. i didn’t ask.

so yeah. busan is a place. it’s messy. it’s loud. it’s got weird weather. and it’s got this weird mix of mountains and sea that’s somehow cool. if you like that. if not. just don’t come. i wouldn’t recommend it. but maybe you should. i don’t know. i’m tired. i’m writing this on a train. which is also a mess. but whatever. i’m doing it. because i have to.

also the temperature is 7.91. which is... i don’t know. it’s cold. but not too cold. i think. maybe. i’ll check again. probably the same. i hope you like that kind of thing.

to sum up. busan is not perfect. but it’s not terrible. it’s just... busan. which is enough. i guess.

p.s. if you’re coming. bring a raincoat. and a sense of adventure. or don’t. it’s up to you.
