Midwest Murmur: Jackson Nightcrawler

just stepped out of the train station and the air hits you like a cold slap i just checked and it's...that frosty breeze, hope you like that kind of thing the sky is a slate gray and the wind whistles through the empty storefronts if you get restless, nearby hamlets are just a quick ride away someone told me that the old diner on main still serves the best coffee at sunrise even if the sign flickers I heard that the graffiti crew left a fresh piece on the side of the warehouse last night the neighbors here are a mix of retired factory workers and a few college kids who never sleep the vibe is raw and unfiltered and you can feel it in the way the streetlights buzz at midnight i slipped into a coffee shop that smells of burnt beans and old books and the barista whispered that the back alley hosts a secret open mic every thursday you can find the gossip on the local board chatter https://www.yelp.com/biz/jackson and the town’s pulse on https://tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g40733-d12345678-Reviews-Jackson_Michigan.html you can also peek at the community feed on https://www.localboard.com/jackson the reviews are just rumors floating around like snowflakes and i’m here to catch them before they melt the map below shows where the city sits in the cold corner of the state

the cold bites but there’s something oddly comforting about it you can almost hear the city humming in its own language and if you wander enough you’ll stumble upon a hidden mural that glows under the streetlamp like a secret handshake*night* feels like the only real thing left in this frostbitten world
