seattle is whatever but here we are

ok so i’m here in seattle and honestly i don’t even know why i’m writing this but here we are. the weather just outside is like that weird drizzle where it’s neither wet enough to bother you or dry enough to be comfortable. i just checked and it’s…there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. which i don’t. i rented this tiny place with a view of everett or whatever and the hill outside is making me regret all my life choices. don’t get me started on the hills here. they’re like a joke for people who don’t like stairs. and fine, fine i’ll accept that i’m paying extra for this but no way am i admitting i like it.

so i took a map screenshot or whatever. here it is.

. it’s not even a good map because i just clicked a random place and now i’m stuck. but here’s something to stare at while you pretend you care.

i went to pike place market once. it was chaotic. like, why would anyone build a market where it rains 70% of the year? i don’t know. but there were people selling salmon and i ate some. it was okay. not great. not bad. someone told me that the space needle is way more interesting than it looks like maybe it’s haunted or something. i didn’t see any ghosts but there was a guy in a raincoat staring at it for 10 minutes. maybe that’s the vibe.

the neighbors? bellevue is east and if you get bored you can just drive there. it’s like seattle’s rich cousin who didn’t suffer through the same amount of rain. everett’s up north and honestly i think it’s basically part of seattle now. like why do we even have borders. the traffic here is wild. i saw a truck stuck on the side of the road for an hour. no one helped. i assumed it was a metaphor for my life.

food here is whatever. starbucks is everywhere. i tried this local place that sells smoked salmon and it was fine. nothing special. nothing terrible. i don’t even care. the culture though? it’s like the grunge kids came back and didn’t notice they aged. i saw a band playing outside and it was just noise. i liked it. i don’t know why.

the port? yeah it’s huge. like, we brought cargo in from asia or wherever. i don’t know. it’s busy. noisy. like seattle itself. but also kinda pretty at night. there are lights on the water and the buildings reflect them. it’s okay. i didn’t take a photo. i don’t care.

oh and the weather again. humidity is through the roof. 87%. it’s like i’m sweating but also freezing at the same time. i wore three layers and still looked like a sad potato. don’t ask about the layers.

i should probably stop now. this is messy. disjointed. i don’t know. maybe seattle is just a collection of random things and i’m here to experience them all. if you come here don’t expect anything. don’t expect clarity. just expect the rain and the hills and the people who don’t care. that’s it.

p.s. the mountains are there. like, right there. i can see mount raini-er whatever from my window. it’s cool. i took a photo.

aerial photography of seattle skyline

. it’s not great. i was distracted. also this one.

high rise buildings during daytime

. and this one for no reason.

aerial view of buildings

not helpful.

yeah that’s it. i’ll just go sleep in this uncomfortable bed and pretend tomorrow is different. probably won’t. but here we are.
